Regular Board Meeting

September 13, 2026

The meeting was called to order by Daniel Stehlik at 8:15 pm cdt.  The following board members were present:

             Connie Moore, Melissa Nicholson, Michael Littlefield, Daniel Stehlik

The following education committee members were present:  Randy Saner, Kelly Bruns and Ivan Rush. 

Secretary Report: There were no corrections to the August 10, 2026 minutes. Motion to accept the minutes by Melissa and seconded by Connie.  Motion carried.

Treasurers Report: Balances: Regular Checking: $5337.91, PayPal: $155.78, Petty Cash: $131.94, Youth Fund $1395.00.   Motion by Melissa to approve the treasurer’s report and seconded by Connie. Motion carried.

Bills:  No bills were submitted this meeting.

Old Business:

  1. Tasting and Activity Station at State Fair: Everyone that worked at the Tasting said it went well.  More people were served on Sunday than Saturday.  Susan Littlefield gave us recognition during the sheep and goat shows and mentioned the tasting going on.  The activity station went well for the time that we had it set up.  Had a lot of people stop by.  
  • 2026 Fall Conference: Randy and Kelly reported on the annual Fall Conference and will try to get a sponsor for the meat.  Suggested that we have a checklist on the registration for people to choose what items they want to attend and what meals people want to eat with different prices for each item.  The board has not set a cost of each item depending on the cost of the meat.  The NSGP will cover the cost of the conference.  Suggested cost of the conference including meals would be around $50.00.  Bull-eye will sponsor a drink bar up to $250.00.  We will also put the registration and agenda on the website.   
  • Other Old Business:  There was no other old business.

New Business:

  1. Aksarben – One of the sponsored exhibitors, Korbin, stopped by the activity station on Saturday to meet with Melissa and Connie and take a picture.  We mentioned to him that one of the board members, Bill Buettner, will be attending the Aksarben show.   Great to meet Korbin and his family and wishing him luck at Aksarben.
  • Letter Request from ASI:  Daniel is working on a letter from the association to send to ASI in support of ASI Section #201.
  • Grants submitted – Melissa reported that all the grants had been submitted and we should receive the money soon.
  • Request for sheep and goat information from counties – We will check with the Nebraska Dept of Ag, Mike Gibson, and Eric Stehlik to get information from them to use.  We will also obtain information and possibly put in a dropbox that can be used for all counties and we will put it on the website possibly. 
  • Other workshops or clinics in 2026-2027:  John Hayes is possibly putting a workshop together to be in the eastern part of the state on Solar Grazing. 
  • Other New Business:  Make It With Wool is November 22, 2026 in Lexington.   Michael made a motion to send $2300.00 to MIWW this year.  Connie seconded.  Motion carried.

Ivan reported that ASI Section #201 settlement is moving along.  ASI is stilling working very hard on this issue.
