Thank you to everyone who attended our Pasture Lambing and Kidding Clinic. While the group was small, it created an excellent environment for open questions, discussion, and hands-on learning. Presenters Adam Klein and Matt Grimes shared insights into their operations as attendees observed ewes lambing on pasture and learned more about low-input, low-intervention management practices. Discussions covered a wide range of topics including fencing, livestock guardian dogs, grazing management, and many other practical considerations for pasture-based production.

In the afternoon, the group traveled to one of Matt Grimes’ farm locations to tour his innovative and economical bummer (bottle) lamb system, where 150–200 bottle lambs are managed efficiently with minimal labor. Participants also took part in practical demonstrations and exercises involving banding, navel dipping, and ear tagging, along with conversations about tail docking methods and the use of different livestock handling systems.
